Mountain Biking East Gippsland will be hosting Round 2 of the Victorian Downhill Series (VDHS) at Mt Taylor on the weekend of 23/24 November 2024.
Race Entry: https://entryboss.cc/races/22964
This event will bring a huge number of riders to experience Mt Taylor not only for the race but also for practice in the weeks before and hopefully return visits to ride our trails. Keep your eyes open as these riders start visiting Mt Taylor, we’ve already seen a massive increase in the use of the DH track in the last few months.
From a club perspective this event will bring in some much needed funds and really kick off our ability to start redistributing these funds into other useful projects and developments within our community. So the smooth running of this event is a vital step into moving the club forward.
Here is all the important information and also some ways in which you can help out:

Track Closure: Mt Taylor DH will be closed from Friday 22nd November – Sunday 24th November for the event. In the weekdays before the event the volunteers will be out refreshing, repairing and bunting the trail for the race, please stay off the trail and allow us to complete this work safely. Lower All Mountain will be closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (22nd, 23rd, 24th Nov). All other trails will remain open to any riders across the weekend.
Road Closure: Lookout Rd and Milkies Run will be closed to vehicle access for the weekend of the 23/24th November.
Shuttles: Riders will be shuttled to the start of the DH track for this event. The shuttles will leave from the Pines entrance to Mt Taylor – Along Bullumwaal Rd to Mt Lookout Rd then up Tower Rd and along Tower Rd to the top of the Hill. The return busses will follow the same route but go down Laytons Rd instead of Mt Lookout Rd. 4 teams of busses and vans will be on constant turnaround getting riders to the top. This ‘Long way around’ approach ensures that the vehicles will not cross the DH track, minimise dust and allow us to use bigger busses and trailers for transport. Local landowners will be contacted if effected by this route and encouraged to contact president@mtbeg.com.au with any concerns.

There will be no camping onsite over the weekend to maximise parking availability. Overflow parking may be needed on nearby roadsides on Decarlos Rd and Milkies but please under no circumstances park on Bullumwaal Rd!

VOLUNTEERING: We would love your help to make this event a success and we have a number of volunteer shifts to cover across the weekend. From Shuttle Drivers, Track Marshalls, Parking Attendants and General helpers it’s going to be a busy weekend. Where possible we have split volunteer roles into half day shifts to spread the load and allow everyone to enjoy the event. You are more than welcome to sign up to more than one shift across the day though if you are keen and willing. Please click the link below and sign yourself up to be a volunteer for the event as we really need your help for this one.
These little videos from Auscycling will give you a little insight to what it’s like to volunteer at these events as a general volunteer or track marshall
Further information about specific roles will be distributed to all volunteers who sign up prior to the event.
If you have any questions or require any help in signing up to volunteer please contact Melissa at secretary@mtbeg.com.au
