This Summer Mountain Biking East Gippsland will be supporting Bairnsdale Bikes in bringing you the Summer of Shred for season 2023/24.
The Summer of Shred is for everyone regardless of age and experience. It is a perfect way to learn about the sport in a fun and friendly environment.
Racing takes place every Thursday evening over this Summer. 5:00pm -7:30 pm at Mt Taylor.
It’s not a race as such but there is a competitive challenge that is all about personal development and improvement. You race your own best time. Your first race establishes a Personal Best (PB). Points are awarded after each race based on your performance against this time. Each week you will be racing against yourself, no categories, no set race order. You will be entering under a category which will be used to determine placings for the end of season awards only.
Come join us for a bit of fun, it’s as serious as you want to make it. There are plenty of members to help you out and give you tips, so don’t be shy. If you can only make it for 1 run instead of 2 that’s ok too, we just want to see the community riding together.
The first 6 weeks of the season will see competitors post a time on both Tip Run & The Final Fling of Southern Cross. Each week riders will progress their skill & fitness levels. All riders will be age grouped & time slot allocated for their laps.
The second half of the season will introduce 2 new tracks as riders should have progressed their skills & fitness enough to tackle more challenging terrain. Each rider will ride further up the mountain to Goodes track & tackle Flow & Time to Drop into Tip Run.
